Previously we set up the greenhouse (Site1a2g) as an enclosed space with supplemental/augmenting resources (pollen, sugar water, "mud"). Then we released the bees, actually placed the cocoons, on Wednesday morning, the 19th of February. On Thursday, we did our first check of the bees progress.
Now on Friday the 21st we are checking the status of the bees, cocoon, and our enclosed space. In Part 1, we check on the sugar water, plain water, pollen provision and the "mud". We also figure out how to place the Micro SD card in the Wansview camera to allow 24/7 recording.
Note that at about 0:53 seconds you can see that one of the tubes is plugged with mud. Review of previous photos shows that this was plugged when we put the habitats in the greenhouse. It is not a result of bee activity from this case.
In Part 2, we examine the content of the PVC tubes and readout the temperature/humidity data records.
Two of the PVC tubes had no hatched bees, the third had two.
We also read out the temperature and humidity data records since we placed the loggers at the two sites: one inside the greenhouse, the other about 10 away in the herb garden (the "old" Site1a2a). Note that the sun input to each location is different, so sometimes the the temperature varies greatly between the two sites even though they are adjacent. And the greenhouse amplifies the heat so it is generally, when the sun is shining on it, hotter.
We finally replaced two translucent top panels with screens when we noted that the temperatures got way too hot (over 100 deg F) inside the greenhouse.
