Completing the Site3 Visit; Bees in a Woodpile, Hummingbirds, and Free Range Cattle

After our explosive experience with ACME Products, we completed the review of Site3 located on the East Verde River at Flowing Springs.

First we visited each placed habitat and noted the status (any bee activity?, any tubes filled with mud?) and took photos of each for documentation purposes.

Site3 Visual Survey Results on 14 April 2019

Temperature and humidity to date showed no surprises.

As I was leaving, I ran into our neighbor Dave. He told me that there were hundreds of bees at his place (located 0.15 miles from Site3b, half that from Site3a where we released the majority of the Payson bees) one week ago when he was splitting wood for his woodpile.

Perhaps the bees from the Master Garden (Site3a) smelled the freshly cut wood and migrated to Dave's place? We will consider this further. I did drop off a habitat to Dave and asked him to put it near the woodpile, out of the wind, at a place with morning sun.

Site3, bee habitat given to dave to put near wood pile.

Next, we will do one more review of all the sites. And we will place the remaining bees at one more location at Site1a2 (Phoenix lakeside, residential lot) and a new Site4 located near Flagstaff, AZ.
